Vehicular networks are used for vehicle to vehicle communication and vehicle to roadside equipment communication. Many developing countries are badly in need of VANET for vehicular safety. It is a growing area of research with a large number of applications. Vehicular Ad-hoc NETworks (VANETs) can be considered as a subset of Mobile Ad hoc NETworks (VANETs) with unique characteristics. The applications seen so far include safety applications, traffic efficiency enhancements, and infotainment services. All applications are matched with proper security mechanisms.
