The wireless mobile Ad-hoc NETwork (MANET) is a collection of wireless mobile nodes that can be formed without the need of any pre-existing infrastructure. MANET is an autonomous system in which each node enters and leaves the network at any point of time. The features like wireless medium, randomly changing topology, dispersed alliance makes MANETs more exposed to a variety of security attacks such as worm hole, black hole, flooding attack etc. In this paper, the authors study mobile ad-hoc network and its characteristics, advantages and disadvantages, routing protocols and its classification of security attacks.
