An Questionnaire Based Assessment Method for Process Improvement in Indian Small Scale Software Organizations

Most of the software development organizations all over the world are small and medium enterprises. In India, the existing software engineering and organization development literature acknowledges that there are fundamental operational differences between small and large organizations. Successful implementation of SPI methodologies in Small and Medium-sized software Enterprises (SMEs) is generally not possible, because such organizations are not capable of investing in the cost of implementing these programs. Limited resources and strict deadlines to complete the projects make it further difficult to implement SPI programs, which can also affect the quality issues in software project. Despite this recognition, there has been no attempt to verify whether small software organizations implement Software Process Improvement (SPI) programs differently in order to advance their businesses.
