Hash function is one of the fundamental primitives in modern cryptography and it is widely used in digital signatures, data integrity and message authentication. In this paper, analysis is done to a hash function scheme based on chaotic coupled map network proposed by the researchers and some potential defects are discovered. After that, improvement is done to reduce the chance of collision. Experimental results and analysis indicate that the improved hash function has good statistical properties, high message and key sensitivity and strong collision resistance.
