In ad hoc networks, Multiple Channels and Multiple Interface (MCMI) network model can improve the network capacity and reduce the average transmission delay time. The authors propose a cross-layer control scheme which can improve the transmission performance of TCP in multi-channel multi-interface ad hoc network. This scheme set a congestion control state bit in IP header according to average queue length and channel utilization at each node. What's more, it chooses the interface that has the shortest queue length as the next hop transmission export in order to reduce data packet queuing delay.
