The Available BandWidth (ABW) of an end-to-end path is its remaining capacity and it is an important metric for several applications. Traffic engineering statistically ensures efficient use of existing network infrastructure based on information of network state through accurate measurement. Unused link capacity, also called Available BandWidth (ABW) is one of the parameters used to determine the condition of the network for service providers to efficiently manage resources and services. Active measurement methods proactively shoot probe packets from a source node towards a destination node to estimate various network parameters.
