BP-Mon: Query-based Monitoring of BPEL Business Processes

In this paper, the authors present one sub-system of BP-Suite - BP-Mon, a novel query language for monitoring BPs. BP-Mon offers a high level intuitive design of monitoring tasks. A novel optimization technique exploits available knowledge on the BP structure to speed up computation. Further optimization to be studied may include pattern simplifications, e.g. replacing non-transitive edges with transitive ones and reducing pattern nesting by eliminating unnecessary compound activities. A Business Process (BP for short) consists of some business activities undertaken by one or more organizations in pursuit of some particular goal.
