In this paper, the authors have presented an approach to modeling, analyzing, detecting and monitoring a learning process through course materials. They model and analyze the learning process in BPMN, execute semantic web services (learning activities, learning objects and external resources) orchestration with BPEL and using Spagic BPM dashboard they were able to monitor the learning process in a real-time manner. Within their approach however, are a number of assumptions. In the first case, they have abstracted several areas of the composition such as learners' prior knowledge, learning requirements or learning disability. Secondly, the BPEL modeling structure for learning material is hard-coded, but needs to be generated on the-fly to accommodate any structure of course material.
