CD and DVD Policy
June 14, 2006
Seemingly innocent, CDs and DVDs have recently appeared on the market containing Digital Rights Management (DRM) software, which includes a rootkit to hide them from your system. Hackers have begun exploiting the rootkits to spread viruses and spyware. You can use this policy to inform your users of the danger and warn them against playing Audio CDs or DVDs on company equipment.
This policy's purpose is to safeguard your network against software and potential security threats that can come from external software or devices run on your network. It includes a policy you can customize to meet your needs as well as a risk assessment spreadsheet you can use to judge just how much your organization is at risk by not having this policy in place.
