Disjoint multipath routing has got immense research interest due to its capability of providing high reliability. In this paper, the authors present a Centralized Node-disjoint Multipath Routing (CNMR) protocol in wireless sensor networks. They first propose a special topological structure (multi-routing tree) which has the advantage of finding node-disjoint paths easily. Then they build an optimal multi-routing tree for the network by using a low-complexity iterative augmentation scheme. Furthermore, by taking advantage of the structural characteristics inherent in multi-routing tree, they present a customized redundancy scheme to improve the transmission reliability of data routing.
