Changing the Way India Pays - Contactless
In the bank provided credit/debit card, if there is a wave sign (4 curved lines), then the card is a Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) enabled card i.e. the card is capable of contactless payment. These cards have a microchip and a radio antenna which transfers account information to the card reader. The card reader continuously broadcasts radio signals to which RFID enabled cards can respond. In essence, the credit card data is formatted the same when presented to the POS terminal regardless of whether the credit card reader received the data from the swipe of a magnetic strip of a card, or from an RFID-enabled transaction.
