Cloud Computing Benefits for Educational Institutions

Education today is becoming completely associated with the Information Technology on the content delivery, communication and collaboration. The need for servers, storage and software are highly demanding in the universities, colleges and schools. Cloud Computing is an Internet based computing, whereby shared resources, software and information, are provided to computers and devices on-demand, like the electricity grid. Currently, IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service) and SaaS (Software as a Service) are used as business model for Cloud Computing. The paper also introduces the cloud computing infrastructure provided by Microsoft, Google and Amazon Web Service. In this paper, the authors will review the features the educational institutions can use from the cloud computing providers to increase the benefits of students and teachers.
