In this paper, the best relay selected from multiple two-way relays assists the information exchange between two cognitive users for the improvement of spectrum efficiency in cognitive radio networks. The authors investigate and compare the performance of two Bidirectional Cognitive Transmission (BCT) schemes based on the decode-and-forward relaying: the Multiple Access BroadCast (MABC) based BCT (MABCBCT) scheme and the Time-Division BroadCast (TDBC) based BCT (TDBC-BCT) scheme. In the two proposed schemes, the spectrum sensing and the data transmission phases which compose the cognitive transmission process are jointly designed.
