Collision Resolution Schemes at Ingress Edge Node in OTDM-WDM Based Slotted Optical Packet Switching Network
Optical Packet Switching (OPS) has been considered as one of the solutions for the future optical network to employ the high network capacity. The collision in an OPS network, however, is the major problem to be considered. This paper introduces the collision reduction schemes of Optical Time Division Multiplexing-Wavelength Division Multiplexing (OTDM-WDM) base core node and electrical edge node in slotted optical packet switching network and the schemes of the later are mainly investigated. Two packet aggregation based collision resolution mechanisms, i.e. hybrid-threshold-based packet assembly and slot scheduling mechanism are discussed for collision reduction in the ingress edge node.
