Wireless communication enables the information transfer among a network of disconnected users, and most often mobile users. Popular wireless networks such as the mobile phone networks and the wireless LANs are traditionally infrastructure-based, i.e. they have base stations and access points. In contrast, congestion control is a key problem in mobile ad-hoc networks. Many approaches have been proposed to overcome these difficulties. In this paper, the authors give the overview over existing proposals and explain their key ideas and show their interrelations.
