In this paper, the authors present about the comparison of rectangular and truncated rectangular patch for Ku-band (10.7-12.75GHz). Ku-band has been primarily used for satellite communications, usually in fixed and broadcast services. Typically, parabolic dish and microstrip patch antennas are the most popular types for broadcasting services in Ku-band. The characteristic of microstrip patch has more compact and simple structure that offers both linear and circular polarization. Mostly, rectangular patch has been widely used to achieve linear polarization and sometime it has been used for circular polarization.
