Engineering the network capacity requires a complex cross-layer design in multi-radio multi-channel wireless mesh networks. A decoupling approach that breaks down the entire design space into routing, initial channel assignment, local channel reassignment and distributed congestion control are done in order to make the complex problem implementable in a distributed manner is proposed. A unified priced-based framework for distributed congestion control and localized channel-link assignment algorithms is thus formulated. The convergence of the proposed algorithms with respect to different fairness objectives like proportional fairness and max-min fairness on both grid and random topologies are also simulated.
