Not having a corporate computer-naming policy can make computer farms harder to manage, because there are no logical groupings. Implementing a logical, intuitive convention will allow precise targeting of specific computers based on certain system characteristics reflected. Adherence to the following corporate computer-naming convention plays a critical role in optimizing management of all computers within the company.
This policy's purpose is to ensure that every employee, contractor, temporary, and volunteer understands and agrees to abide by specific guidelines for naming computers operating on the company's network.
