Imagine a scenario in which the user has to develop an application that all the company's staff will use to perform different tasks. Each person has a laptop and will be connected to the company's network. For someone who has worked in an environment in which the same database is used for data entry and reporting, or perhaps managed a single database server that was utilized by too many users, the advantages brought by data replication are clear. In this paper, the author emphasizes those advantages as well as presenting the different types of database replication and the cases in which their use is recommended.
