Defining and Using Profiles to Personalize and Manage Reconfigurable Services

As ICT services are becoming more ubiquitous, mobile and personalized, the authors are witnessing an increasing importance of two related needs: the necessity of defining, managing and storing user-related information, e.g., preferences, personal data, characteristics of terminals and devices, settings of network parameters and of application parameters, etc., the necessity of defining procedures and architectures allowing the users to exploit all this information, known on the whole as profile, in the most simple and intuitive way, without forgoing security requirements.
