In this paper, the authors present the design and development of a low cost scheme for the speed control of a dc motor with PWM technique using wireless technology, developed from first principles, i.e., without the use of commercial WSN platforms. The DC motor together with an RF transceiver module forms a remote wireless node, while another RF transceiver in conjunction with a PC forms the controlling node or base station. The minimal use of hardware keeps the cost low and the implementation simple yet rugged.
