In this paper, the authors describe first the purpose of the power amplifiers in the communication systems. Next, the characteristics of power amplifiers are efficiency, gain, linearity, one dB compression point, quality factor and bandwidth and inter modulation products defined and explained by graphically and also using theoretical equations. Finally, stability analysis and loss mechanisms are described. The purpose of a power amplifier, in very simple terms, is to take a signal from a source device (in a DJ system the signal typically comes from a preamplifier or signal processor) and make it suitable for driving a loudspeaker.
