Buffers play an important role in the design of router architecture, which makes the efficient flow control. Traditional buffer design for Triplet-Based Hierarchical Interconnection Network (TBHIN) adopts the standard design, that is, each virtual channel owns a fixed number of buffers, which leads to insufficient availability of this critical resource. This paper improves the traditional design by making buffers shared among the virtual channels. According to the characteristic of TBHIN, the cyclic queue is allowed the simultaneous access to the shared buffer.
