There has been a great attention to develop tag chips for expanded RFID applications. A power management controller circuit with a switched-capacitor mode down-regulator and a battery charger block for semi-active Radio-Frequency IDentification (RFID) tags was proposed and fabricated. The major achievement of the proposed switched-capacitor mode down-regulator and battery charger block is providing a low standby current internal voltage supply circuit and self-controlled thin film battery charger by detecting a voltage level generated using received RF power.
