Bus protocols have been of much importance in the field of System-on-Chip (SoC) design. As SoC's mostly being an integration of different Intellectual Property (IP) blocks, core communications are handled using proprietary or non-proprietary bus protocols such as AXI and OCP. These bus protocols native to an IP core vary with the native bus protocol of other IP's. Further, bus bridges clear the incompatibilities for communication between IP cores. Hence, these bus protocols or SoC interconnects ensure a proper communication between the IP cores in a SoC.
