Design and Simulation of an Ultra Wideband (UWB) Antenna for Wireless Communication

A design of an ultra wideband printed micro-strip antenna which was fed by a micro-strip transmission line for the wireless communication is presented in this paper. All the design parameters like dimensions of strip, position of antenna, thickness of substrate and selection of dielectric material are optimized for the suitable VSWR characteristics, required downlink frequency (2.0GHz to 2.4GHz) and gain of 3db with the efficiency of 74%. The antenna parameters like radiation pattern, input impedance, current distribution and gain are obtained by simulating the designed antenna using IE3D Zeland software.
