In this paper, the authors have designed and implemented FPGA based vehicle tracking system. They employ the detection algorithm based on sonar system. They have implemented a finite state machine for the working of detection algorithm which includes the sending, receiving of signal. The algorithm also includes the actions to calculate the distance of detected vehicle. The architecture works on PMDW (Pulse Modulation Discrete Wave) in which pulse is modulated for transmitting wave. All algorithms and the system are implemented on Xilinx Spartan-3 platform and verified under the test platform.
