In this paper, the authors present the simulation based design of a 2-D multi-period EBG Antenna structure for WiMAX application. This paper focus on the Gain enhancement by introducing 2-D multi-period EBG structure for micro-strip antenna. It is seen that the EBG structure with dielectric material FR4 of dielectric4.4 (loss tangent 0.02) in proximity can be optimally placed along with patch antenna to increase the gain almost double as compared to the patch antenna without EBG structure. This paper is to design and study the effect of gap between the patch and the EBG structure on the bandwidth and gain of the antenna.
