Environmental monitoring, earth-resource mapping, and military systems require broad-area imaging at high resolutions. Applications of self-illuminating remote sensing systems and radar imagery is growing rapidly. Unique properties of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) system makes it one of the most popular and applicable methods of self illuminating remote sensing techniques for ground deformation monitoring, seismic studies, and many photogrammetric applications. This paper is to develop six different algorithms for reducing onboard memory requirements and downlink link budget for down-linking high resolution SAR images.
