Processes are constantly being developed and improved to allow digital asset management (DAM) leaders to upload large sets of assets to their networks. Once uploaded and accessible, certain searching tools can help users to find information that is pertinent to their needs and prevent users from being overwhelmed with unhelpful assets. The capture of quality metadata via keywording and tagging can improve the quality of asset searches. This article addresses different methods for acquiring quality metadata, including capturing metadata from secondary sources, short-term coping strategies, and generating original, actively-linked metadata. The article also offers various solutions for managing large sets of DAM assets acquired in a short period of time.
