As businesses evolve in today’s competitive landscape, the need for mobility and the ability to efficiently work together increases. With more employees working in and out of their offices, seamless communication and collaboration on projects become imperative. In view of this, organisations with hosted applications in data centres have begun adopting cloud computing. Companies with limited budgets and IT capabilities can begin their journey to the cloud via Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). The purpose of this paper is to introduce SaaS to would-be adopters and debunk the misconceptions by comparing on-premise infrastructure applications and SaaS solutions.
