Drone policy

Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), more commonly known as drones, have quite literally taken off by performing many new and inventive commercial applications as of late. Delivering packages, recording terrain, reporting news, documenting wildlife and even providing internet access are just a few of the functions drones can offer. The list is sure to grow longer and more diverse as drone usage and technology evolves. Similarly, lowering costs and increasing options can make drone usage a commonplace business tool among all types of industries; retail, security, utility, environmental, education and government.

Getting the drone into the air is the easy part – determining how to prepare for drone usage from legal, operational and safety aspects can be a challenge since the field is relatively new. These procedures can be complex and will undoubtedly subject to change in the short-term and long-term future, so being familiar with what is required for commercial usage of drones will be critical for organizations which seek to utilize and profit from this technology.
