ECC-Based Mobile WIMAX Initial Network Entry with Improved Security
Mobile WIMAX, the commercial name for the IEEE 802.16 wireless network standard (802.16e), has a drawback in that the parameters in the initial entry section of the network are exposed as plain text. This paper proposes encrypting the initial entry section of the mobile WIMAX network with elliptic curve cryptography in order to prevent the leakage of this information. A performance comparison with the existing model is made using the OPNET simulator. Simulation result show, that the delay rate is marginally improved as compared to the existing initial entry section, where as the average delay rate and processing rate show a significant improvement as compared to those of existing studies.
