In this paper, the authors study and investigate the performance measures of reactive routing protocols (Ad-hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV), Temporary Ordered Routing Algorithm (TORA)) and proactive routing protocols (Destination Sequenced Distance Vector (DSDV)) using TCP and CBR based traffic models. The performance of routing protocols like AODV, DSDV and TORA in Mobile Ad-hoc NETworks (MANETs) is simulated and analyzed based on packet delivery ratio, average end-to-end delay and throughput. The effect of change in number of nodes on MANETs is also investigated. Using NS-2 simulator, the performance of MANET routing protocols based on both CBR and TCP based traffic patterns is compared and analyzed.
