A Mobile Ad-hoc NETwork (MANET) is a temporary infrastructure less multi-hop wireless network in which the nodes can move arbitrarily. The nodes make use of Dynamic Source Routing protocol (DSR) which collects the route information through overhearing and stores these information in route caches. The overhearing improves the network performance but consumes energy unnecessarily and this can be reduced using RandomCast mechanism. This mechanism reduces energy consumption but the node mobility results in more stale routes in route cache of DSR over a period of time.
