Now-a-days, hard real-time embedded systems require more performance than what are currently provided in embedded processors. In this paper, the authors present a multicore architecture that introduces a novel hardware shared-resource management policy, called Worst-Case Resource Management (WC-RM) that allows executing efficiently mixed application workloads composed by hard real-time and non real-time applications in a multicore platform. Their multicore architecture forces hard real-time tasks to be executed close to their worst-case execution time, leaving more free shared resources that can be used by the non real-time tasks.
