Rapid development in powerful capabilities of high performance computing systems with demand of less energy consumption has arisen the need of efficient energy conservation scheduling techniques in distributed computing systems. Task scheduling and energy conservation are the vital research issues as there is a tradeoff among quality of schedules (performance) and energy consumption (power). Existing scheduling strategies for high performance computing systems provide versatile and low cost performance, yet at the expense of huge energy consumption. This paper addresses the \"State of the art\" energy aware scheduling techniques for dependent tasks with an objective to reduce the overall make span and minimization of energy consumption.
