The proposed paper is to develop an energy efficient protocol in a heterogeneous environment, which is set up based on the selection of cluster heads. In this paper, sensor networks work efficiently in their energy constraints, thereby decreasing the delay and increasing the network lifetime. The proposed algorithm prevents energy loss, by using the shortest path to communicate, thus increasing the residual energy of the sensor nodes and prolong the lifetime of Wireless Sensor Networks. The specification for selecting the cluster heads differ from each other. The proposed works have used two different cluster heads for a single cluster. It has adopted H-HEED (Heterogeneous Hybrid Energy Efficient Distributed) protocol and has customized it in order to achieve the required target of the proposed system.
