A Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) consists of large number of small electro-mechanical devices called sensor nodes which are deployed densely in secluded environment which are capable to sense and communicate with help of wireless devices. The basic objective of WSN is to gather data and transfer it to a system where it can be computed, calculated and acted upon for desired purpose. The sensor nodes are made to run on a limited power and most of energy is consumed in transmission, so as to make the networks energy efficient and long lasting. To reduce the redundancy in communication a set of protocols is designed in which the sensor nodes are grouped in to clusters.
