Unimodal biometric systems often face some limitations due to sensitivity to noise, data quality, pressure, dryness and other factors. Multimodal biometric authentication systems aim to fuse two or more traits to provide optimal Genuine Acceptance Rate (GAR) Vs Imposter Acceptance Rate (IAR) curve i.e. Receiver's Operating Characteristic (ROC). Biometric systems for today's high security applications must meet stringent performance requirements. Multiple biometric systems perform better than unimodal biometric systems. In this paper, the authors propose a multimodal biometric system which employs iris and outer finger knuckle print. This paper presents a real time multi modal biometrics system.
