Protocol steganography is a method of data hiding and transmission through protocol which enables user to communicate with other user by embedding secret message in protocols like HTTP, UDP and SSH. This could be used for various methods ranging from military application to business needs. In this paper, the authors discuss a method to use application layer protocol for steganography and how messages can be embedded using commonly used TCP/IP protocol like HTTP. Further, they also suggest a method to improvise this method using strong cryptographic algorithms like DES (Data Encryption Standard).
