ESG: HP 3PAR Storage: Optimizing I/O Service Models

The idea of optimizing storage performance across enterprises is not only a self-evident desire, it is also a need. The growth of storage and the needs of the applications that the storage supports continue to outstrip the industry's ability to fulfill that growth with any economic sense unless new and better processes are employed. Traditional methods are untenable unless accompanied by massive budget increases. The design of HP 3PAR Storage powered by Intel® Xeon® processors has always been focused on such innovative approaches beyond "mere" hardware. Much of this paper sponsored by HP and Intel will therefore focus on the value of AO. However, one particular hardware approach has grabbed huge industry attention over the last year or two: solid-state storage, which, currently, is typically flash based.
