Vehicular Ad-hoc NETwork is one of the most emerging fields for researchers and industry communities. As the nodes are high speeds moving vehicles on the road, cause frequent changes in network topology. Estimation of path duration between source and destination node is a challenging task in VANETs. Path duration is a key parameter to design a routing protocol as it is very useful to increase the throughput and performance of the VANETs. In this paper, the authors have proposed a mathematical model to estimate the path duration between source and destination node using position-based routing protocol in which a border node is selected as a next-hop node for further transmission. The mathematical model has been simulated using MATLAB.
