The management of high-performing and high potential employees (talent) in organizations has attracted attention in recent years because of the assumed links between the ways that talent is managed and organizational performance. Organizational approaches to talent management are often concerned with the ways that a small proportion of relatively high-performing employees are identified and managed in relation to the majority. The disproportionate impact made by a small group of high performers on organizational performance was brought to popular attention in the war for talent.
