Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) using SRAM technology provides designers with a programmable fabric that can be configured to implement a specific hardware circuit. This technology also allows designers to reconfigure the FPGA for a new application's circuit when the current application has been completed. In addition to reconfiguration between applications, Xilinx's FPGAs allow Dynamic Partial Reconfiguration (DPR) of the FPGA fabric. DPR allows selected areas of the target device to be reprogrammed while the remainder of the fabric stays active.
