Experimental Demonstration of an OpenFlow/PCE Integrated Control Plane for IP Over Translucent WSON with the Assistance of a Per-Request-Based Dynamic Topology Server
OpenFlow, which allows operators to control the network using software running on a network operating system (e.g. NOX2) within an external controller, has recently been proposed and experimentally validated as a promising Unified Control Plane (UCP) technique for future IP/DWDM multi-layer optical networks, since it provides maximum flexibility for the operator to control a network and matches the carrier's preferences given its centralized architecture, simplicity and manageability. A seamless OpenFlow/PCE integrated control plane for IP over translucent WSON is presented via a per-request-based dynamic topology server. The overall feasibility and performance metrics of this integrated control plane are experimentally verified and quantitatively evaluated.
