Experimental Study of USRP Radio Transport VITA Communication Protocol

USRP (Universal Software Radio Peripheral) has been developed with a unique processing and routing architecture based on VITA-49, which can drastically reduce wireless platform development time. This architecture allows users to easily integrate custom IPs, such as modulators, demodulators, processors or protocol stacks. To implement any extra functionalities on the USRP’s FPGA, it is important to understand how it communicates with the Host-PC, such that it is possible to transfer data to and from the FPGA. This paper intends to provide an overview of the procedure and statistics of establishing a TCP/IP link between NI-USRP-29xx.
