Secret sharing schemes allow a secret to be distributed among several parties. Roughly speaking, Secret Sharing Schemes - SSS from now on - can force parties to cooperate to perform a certain sensitive task, instead of trusting a single party. For example, a bank requiring that at least two of its employees cooperate to open the vault can share the vault's lock combination in such a way that any two employees can recover it, but one cannot. Similar challenges can arise in other sensitive areas where a secret should be recovered only if certain users, the authorized sets, get together.
