In this paper, Forward Error Correcting (FEC) codes based technique has been proposed to triumph over the predicament of primary user emulation attack at the physical layer of cognitive network. The authentication for arrival of primary user is done by embedding the encrypted tag onto the error control codes. The embedding is done in such a way that the bit error rate is not affected much. This task of embedding is being done by the helper node which is being assumed to be placed close to the primary user and the key is exchanged privately before the communication starts.
