A Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) technology could be deployed to identify a forest fire in its early stages. Each sensor node can gather different types of row data from sensors. Forest - fire detection systems based on the satellite imagery (MODIS and AVHRR). The authors present the design and evaluation of a wireless sensor network for early detection of forest fires. This data aggregation scheme significantly prolongs the network lifetime, because it only delivers the data that is of interest to the application. They validate several aspects of their design using simulation.
